Three new artificial diving reefs planned for Limassol

The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company has announced a project to create three new diving sites in the Limassol maritime area. The initiative is a collaboration between the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research. The project involves sinking a 110-metre ship and two tugboats to serve as artificial reefs. The primary objectives are to promote diving tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean and to support local marine biodiversity. Authorities expect the project to attract visitors from both Cyprus and abroad. The first phase of the development is scheduled to commence in 2026. This infrastructure investment is intended to establish the region as a significant diving destination.
