Product safety recalls regarding gas stove and frozen cuttlefish in Cyprus

Cypriot authorities have announced separate recalls for a consumer appliance and a food product due to safety concerns. The Department of Electromechanical Services has initiated a voluntary recall of the Matestar gas stove (model MAT-1SRB, made in China by Chinabest Home Appliance Co. Ltd) after laboratory testing revealed it failed to meet European standard EN 484:2019+AC:2020 and Regulation (EU) 2016/426. Consumers are advised to stop using the stove and return it to the point of sale. Separately, the Health Services have recalled two batches of EMA brand frozen cleaned whole cuttlefish (origin India, batches 0350626 and 0360626, expiration 19/9/27). Testing by the State General Laboratory confirmed that these batches contain cadmium levels exceeding the limits set by Regulation (EU) 2023/915. Consumers who purchased these cuttlefish are urged to avoid consumption and return them to the stores. Retailers have been instructed to remove both the stoves and the affected cuttlefish from the market.
