Limassol court sentences 51-year-old man to 18 years for sexual abuse
The Limassol Criminal Court has sentenced a 51-year-old Greek national to 18 years in prison for the systematic sexual abuse of his stepdaughter. The abuse began when the victim was 12 years old and continued until she reached adulthood, spanning the periods from 2007 to 2016 and again from April 2025 until the victim reported the crimes to the authorities. The defendant initially pleaded not guilty to the dozens of charges, which included sexual exploitation of a child, common assault, and threats, but later changed his plea to guilty. In addition to the 18-year prison term, the court imposed a six-year supervision order to take effect after his release. The court emphasized the severity of the crimes and noted an increasing trend of such offenses in recent years. The case, which was first brought to public attention by philenews on April 30, 2025, has been described as one of the most serious cases of child sexual abuse brought before the judicial system in the Republic of Cyprus.
