President Christodoulides addresses OEB annual general assembly in Nicosia
President Nikos Christodoulides addressed the annual general assembly of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) in Nicosia. He emphasized the government's commitment to economic resilience, competitiveness, and bureaucracy reduction. The President credited the partnership with OEB for successful agreements regarding the cost-of-living adjustment (ATA), the national minimum wage, and tax reform. In the context of geopolitical instability, Christodoulides highlighted the need for strategic autonomy within the European Union. He referenced the informal European Council recently hosted by Cyprus, which led to the signing of the 'One Europe, One Market' roadmap. This roadmap includes 42 actions to be completed by 2027, focusing on regulatory simplification, energy market integration, and digital transformation. Furthermore, he noted that the EU's 2028-2034 budget must support innovation and energy infrastructure to maintain industrial competitiveness amidst global conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
