Eleven Blue Events to recycle 1,650 kilograms of marathon medals

The event organizing company Eleven Blue Events has announced a sustainability initiative to recycle 1,650 kilograms of medals from three major races: the XM Limassol Marathon, the Radisson Blu International Marathon in Larnaca, and the Bank of Cyprus Nicosia Marathon. The collected medals will be handed over to a local metalworker in Limassol for recycling, promoting circular resource management. Sustainability sponsors supporting these efforts include Muskita Aluminium Industries and Bioland Energy Group. Muskita Aluminium Industries highlighted its 'GO BLUE' initiative, which includes various environmental actions such as recycling plastics, paper-free registrations, providing shuttle buses for runners to reduce car use, and volunteer training. This project is presented as part of a wider corporate social responsibility strategy to reduce the environmental footprint of major sporting events in Cyprus. The organizers intend to foster a more sustainable culture within the local sports community through these collaborative efforts.
