Hail and rain reported across mountainous areas of Cyprus

On Tuesday, April 28, unstable weather conditions affected various regions of Cyprus, particularly mountainous areas. Residents in Kalo Chorio, Lemesos, Prodromos, Moutoullas, and Ora reported heavy rainfall and significant hail, with video footage showing roads and courtyards covered in white. The Department of Meteorology had previously issued forecasts warning of potential scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon hours. Winds were recorded as light to moderate, reaching 3-4 Beaufort, with temporary gusts of 5 Beaufort along the southern coast. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to approximately 12-14 degrees Celsius in inland and coastal areas, and 9 degrees in the mountains. Localized cloudiness, occasional rain, and potential storms are anticipated to continue through the remainder of the week and into early May. The weather remains characterized by weak low pressure, with no significant temperature shifts expected in the coming days.
