European countries revise travel advisories for Cyprus
Between March 4, 2026, and the present, nine European nations have updated their travel advisories for Cyprus to reflect a more stable local environment. The countries involved include Bulgaria, France, Denmark, Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, and Sweden. This development is attributed by Cypriot authorities to coordinated diplomatic efforts by the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Specific changes include France removing advice to avoid British military bases in Akrotiri and Dhekelia, and Sweden eliminating warnings regarding flight disruptions at Larnaca and Paphos airports. The Netherlands has moved away from language describing 'significant security risks' in favor of more specific descriptions. Additionally, Poland officially stated that the overall situation in the country is stable and removed previous warnings regarding regional instability in the Middle East. Bulgaria has also lowered its travel alert level. These revisions are intended to distinguish the Republic of Cyprus from broader regional conflicts.
