Cypriot MEP Loukas Fourlas nominated for the 2026 Parliament Magazine MEP Awards
Cypriot MEP Loukas Fourlas, representing the EPP and DISY parties, has been selected as a finalist for the 2026 MEP Awards, organized by the Parliament Magazine. He is the only Cypriot Member of the European Parliament currently nominated across the ten award categories. Fourlas is competing in the 'Democracy and European Values' category alongside candidates Abir Al-Sahlani (Sweden), Cynthia Ni Mhurchu (Ireland), Lucia Yar (Slovakia), and Hannah Neumann (Germany). His nomination is based on his parliamentary work, which includes reporting on women abused during the 1974 Turkish invasion, efforts to support education in the occupied village of Rizokarpaso, and his role as the standing rapporteur for Iran. This marks a continuation of his parliamentary activity following his 2022 award for 'MEP of the Year in Health'. The selection follows a public voting process conducted by the magazine.
