Larnaca shooting trial adjourned
The trial of five individuals accused of involvement in a shooting incident in central Larnaca on January 17 has been postponed until May 14 due to the absence of a judge from the Permanent Assize Court of Larnaca. The defendants, aged 20, 32, 48, and two aged 26, will remain in custody. Four of the accused are recognized political refugees from Jordan and Palestine, while the 48-year-old holds Cypriot citizenship. They face various felony charges including conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, extortion, participation in a criminal organization, and physical assault. Two of the defendants are also facing additional charges for assaulting a 39-year-old European citizen in Pyla earlier on the same day. Police continue to search for three additional suspects aged 26, 27, and 35. One of these individuals, a 27-year-old, is wanted in connection with both the Pyla assault and the Larnaca shooting.
