Nicosia district government to hire graduates of Agia Skepi rehabilitation program
The Nicosia District Self-Government Organization (EOA) has announced a new initiative to provide employment opportunities to individuals who have successfully completed their rehabilitation at the Agia Skepi Therapeutic Community. This policy was adopted following a proposal by Andreas Konstantinou, Deputy Mayor of Aglantzia and member of the Nicosia EOA. Beneficiaries will be hired to work at the EOA's Repair and Reuse Centers. These centers are part of the EU-funded LIFE IP CYzero Waste project, which is coordinated by the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. The facilities will be located at existing Green Points infrastructure across the Nicosia district. The initiative aims to facilitate social reintegration and increase the employability of recovered individuals while supporting the transition to a circular economy. EOA officials stated that this measure is expected to help reduce relapse rates by fostering self-confidence and healthy social relationships through gainful employment.
