45-year-old man arrested following attempted car hijacking and crash in Rhodes
On the evening of April 21 in Rhodes, a 45-year-old man allegedly attempted to cause a fatal accident while riding in a car driven by his estranged wife, who was also transporting their minor child. During the trip, the man reportedly seized the steering wheel to force the vehicle off a cliff. The driver resisted the movement, causing the car to collide with another vehicle in the opposite lane, resulting in minor material damage. After the engine stalled, the man exited the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, he drove his own car off a 60-meter ravine. He was found injured with a strong smell of alcohol and was subsequently hospitalized. The suspect is currently receiving treatment at a psychiatric clinic. Authorities have filed charges against him for attempted murder, dangerous driving, and domestic violence. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing.
