Train collision in Indonesia results in seven deaths

A collision between two trains occurred near the Bekasi Timur station, approximately 25 kilometers east of Jakarta, Indonesia. An intercity train struck a stationary commuter train that was carrying passengers, including a dedicated car for women. Anna Purba, a spokesperson for the state railway company KAI, confirmed that seven people died and 81 others were injured in the accident. Local authorities, including Jakarta police chief Asep Edi Suheri, confirmed that rescue operations were initiated to extricate passengers trapped in the wreckage. Two individuals remained trapped shortly after the incident as emergency teams worked to reach them. Survivors, such as 29-year-old Sausan Sharifa, were transported to RSUD hospital for treatment of fractures and lacerations. While rescue efforts are ongoing, the specific causes of the collision remain under investigation by authorities.
