Mikhail Martynyuk presents ballet works in Cyprus
Mikhail Martynyuk, the artistic director of the Philippine National Ballet, is currently visiting Cyprus as part of an international tour. Martynyuk is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and has received prestigious accolades including the Vaganova Prix, the Gold Medal at the Astana International Ballet Competition, and the Soul of Dance award. During his visit, he will present two distinct works titled Panaginip and Alice in Wonderland. Panaginip explores his personal connection to the Philippines, while Alice in Wonderland focuses on dreamlike physical transformations. Martynyuk describes his choreographic style as a blend of classical ballet, contemporary movement, and theatrical storytelling. He notes that his work has evolved toward minimalism and symbolism, heavily influenced by Filipino culture, mythology, and his own experiences with relocation. The choreographer seeks to engage the Cypriot audience with these performances that bridge traditional and modern artistic forms.
