First Lady Philippa Karsera promoted to permanent ambassador
On Monday, April 27, the Public Service Commission of Cyprus announced the promotion of four diplomats to the rank of permanent ambassador, including the First Lady, Philippa Karsera. Karsera, who currently serves as Director of Consular Affairs and Schengen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will assume her new position on May 15. The commission stated that the selection process was conducted according to standard legislative procedures. Karsera participated in the process by sitting for written examinations and attending an interview on Friday, April 24. The other three individuals promoted are Thessalia Siampou, currently the political director at the foreign ministry, Maria Michael, the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations, and Charis Moritsis, the former ambassador to Tokyo. These appointments are intended to fill existing vacancies within the Cypriot foreign service.
