Cyprus Public Service Commission appoints four new permanent ambassadors

The Public Service Commission of Cyprus has announced the appointment of four permanent ambassadors, effective May 15, 2026. The appointees include First Lady Philippa Karsera, Thessalia Siampou, Maria Michael, and Charis Moritsis. This selection follows a public notice published in the Official Gazette on August 30, 2024. Philippa Karsera, currently the Director of Consular Affairs and Schengen, underwent the standard selection process, including written examinations and an interview held on April 24. The positions fall under the A15(i) salary scale, ranging from €64,713 to €80,433 per year, excluding general legislative increases. Thessalia Siampou serves as the political director at the Foreign Ministry, Maria Michael is the current permanent representative to the United Nations, and Charis Moritsis formerly served as the first ambassador to Tokyo. These appointments aim to fill long-standing vacancies within the diplomatic corps.
