Drug trafficking cases in Nicosia and Paphos lead to arrests

Authorities in Cyprus recently conducted two separate operations against drug trafficking in Nicosia and Paphos. In Nicosia, a 28-year-old man was arrested on April 23, 2026, after police discovered 1.5 kilograms of Class B cannabinoids and a large sum of cash in his residence. The Nicosia District Court ordered his detention for seven days to facilitate investigations. Meanwhile, in Paphos, four individuals—a 28-year-old man, two 32-year-old men, and an 18-year-old woman—were arrested following a vehicle stop. During the search, police seized approximately 1.03 kilograms of cocaine, 150 grams of cannabis, 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, and 3,060 euros in cash. The Paphos District Court subsequently issued eight-day detention orders for these four suspects. Both cases are currently being investigated by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN).
