Drug enforcement operations in Paphos and Nicosia
Authorities in Cyprus recently conducted two separate drug-related investigations. In Paphos, the Anti-Narcotics Service (YKAN) stopped a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old, with two 32-year-olds and an 18-year-old as passengers. During a search of the vehicle and the individuals, police discovered approximately 1.03 kilograms of cocaine, 150 grams of cannabis, 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, and 3,060 euros in cash. All four suspects were arrested and scheduled to appear before the Paphos District Court for detention hearings. Separately, in Nicosia, YKAN officers acting on a judicial warrant searched the residence of a 28-year-old man on April 23, 2026. This operation, conducted in cooperation with YDAP, resulted in the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of Class B cannabinoids and a significant amount of money. The suspect in the Nicosia case was detained for further investigation and is expected to face a detention hearing at the Nicosia District Court.
