Minister Vafeades addresses development plans for Larnaca and fuel supply status

Minister of Transport and Works, Alexis Vafeades, reaffirmed the government's commitment to the Larnaca port and marina project on Tuesday. He expressed confusion regarding recent public concerns over a potential 'industrial port,' stating that no such plans exist. Mr. Vafeades highlighted a meeting held on April 16th with local Larnaca authorities, where next steps and the development of land areas were agreed upon. Regarding fuel security, the Minister stated on Monday that there is currently no shortage in Cyprus. He noted that the government is monitoring potential supply chain disruptions caused by unpredictable instability in the Middle East. As an island nation, Cyprus faces higher logistics risks compared to Central Europe, and the Ministry is coordinating with the European Commission to utilize available strategic tools. The government maintains that it will continue with its infrastructure commitments to Larnaca regardless of current political rhetoric.
