Confiscation of contraband in central prisons

Over the past four months, authorities at the Central Prisons have confiscated dozens of mobile phones, narcotics, and other prohibited items. These seizures occurred during intensified security inspections conducted both within the facility and at entry points for visitors. According to the Ministry of Justice, these increased controls have been in effect since January 1. Following a legislative amendment passed in February, the possession, use, or attempted introduction of mobile phones and other illicit items into the prison is now classified as a criminal offense. This legislation applies to inmates, visitors, and other individuals. Personnel found facilitating these actions face particularly strict penalties. The Ministry of Justice and the Prison Directorate have stated that any further attempts to introduce such items will result in criminal prosecution and potential imprisonment.
