Metropolitan Nikiforos of Kykkos receives the Gold Medal of Apostle Barnabas

On Sunday evening, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides attended a ceremony to honor Metropolitan Nikiforos of Kykkos and Tillyria. During the event, the Holy Synod awarded the Metropolitan with the Gold Medal of Apostle Barnabas, which is the highest ecclesiastical distinction in Cyprus. The award recognizes his pastoral and social work, which he has led since becoming the abbot of the Royal Stauropegial Monastery of Panagia tou Kykkou in 1984. President Christodoulides emphasized that the Metropolitan's leadership has contributed to various charitable projects and social activities. Several members of the Cabinet also attended the event to express the State's respect for the Metropolitan and the hierarchy of the Church of Cyprus. The President noted that the specific amount donated by the monastery to charity over the decades remains unquantifiable due to its scale.
