Foreign Minister Kombos attends the 25th EU-ASEAN ministerial meeting

Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos is traveling to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, to participate in the 25th EU-ASEAN ministerial meeting on April 27-28, 2026. This biennial event serves as a primary political dialogue mechanism between the two organizations. The meeting is a key preparatory stage for the 2027 summit, which will mark 50 years of EU-ASEAN relations. Participants, including foreign ministers and institutional representatives, aim to upgrade cooperation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The agenda focuses on strengthening multilateralism, international security, digital transition, energy security, supply chain resilience, and maritime security. For Cyprus, the participation is part of its presidency's priority to enhance the European presence in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, the visit seeks to deepen bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and Southeast Asian nations. The ASEAN bloc includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and East Timor.
