Altercation between suspended Bishop Tychikos and priest in Paphos
On Sunday, April 26, a physical altercation occurred between the suspended former Bishop of Paphos, Tychikos, and a priest at the Apostle Paul Church in Paphos. The incident began when Tychikos attempted to participate in the Divine Liturgy despite being under suspension by the Holy Synod. The officiating priest, who serves as the chancellor of the Metropolis, approached Tychikos to request that he refrain from participating. This led to a heated verbal dispute and a subsequent physical scuffle. Reports indicate the priest was pushed and allegedly punched, leading him to seek medical treatment at the Paphos General Hospital. The priest, who recently underwent neck surgery, received care for pain in that area and was seen leaving the hospital with a bandage on his hand. Both parties have since visited the police to file statements regarding the event. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the conflict.
