EDEK president Marinos Sizopoulos outlines parliamentary goals

Marinos Sizopoulos, president of the EDEK party, stated that the party's primary goal in the upcoming parliamentary elections is the re-election of four members of parliament. In 2021, EDEK secured four seats with 6.72% of the vote and 24,022 ballots. During the last legislative term, two of the four elected members left the party: Kostis Efstathiou became independent, while Andreas Apostolou joined the DIKO party. Sizopoulos evaluated the past five years as successful, highlighting the party's role in debates regarding foreclosures, national budgets, and social policy, particularly healthcare. Regarding the Cyprus issue, he supported the president's direction but argued that confidence-building measures should be discussed by negotiators rather than leaders. He also addressed allegations made by journalist Makarios Drousiotis, claiming the attacks were intended to undermine EDEK. Finally, he called for a review of wealth distribution and addressed concerns regarding institutional crises.
