Two separate stabbing incidents reported in Cyprus
Cypriot police are investigating two unrelated stabbing incidents that occurred in different districts. On April 28, 2026, a 44-year-old kiosk owner was attacked at his workplace on Prodromou Avenue in Strovolos, Nicosia, suffering abdominal and forearm wounds. Following a police search, a 34-year-old suspect identified as Alexandros Ampartsoumian was arrested on April 30 and remanded for five days. In a separate incident in Paralimni, Ammochostos, a 27-year-old man was arrested for attacking a 46-year-old man with a knife after a minor vehicle collision in a parking lot. The 46-year-old victim was treated at the Ammochostos General Hospital and subsequently discharged. The Nicosia incident is being investigated by the CID of Nicosia, while the Ammochostos CID handles the second case. Both suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
