Police search for 34-year-old suspect following stabbing in Nicosia

Authorities are searching for 34-year-old Alexandros Ampartsoumian, a Greek national and Nicosia resident, in connection with a stabbing incident on April 28, 2026. The incident occurred around 06:40 on Prodromou Avenue, where a 44-year-old kiosk owner was attacked following a verbal dispute with an unknown man. The victim sustained injuries to his abdomen and right forearm. After the assault, the victim was transported to a private hospital and later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is leading the investigation and has publicly released the suspect's information. The suspect is wanted for questioning regarding charges of causing bodily harm and illegal knife possession.
