50-year-old man arrested for armed robbery in Ayia Napa
A 50-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on the night of Saturday, April 25, in Ayia Napa. The suspect was detained following a court warrant issued by the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (CID). According to the police report, the victim, a 20-year-old resident of the Famagusta district, was walking on Martas Street at approximately 10:20 p.m. when he was ambushed and thrown to the ground by the assailant. The perpetrator threatened the victim with a knife and stole a sum of money along with a mobile phone. During the altercation, the victim sustained an injury to his left hand while attempting to resist the attacker. The 20-year-old was transported to Famagusta General Hospital, where he received medical treatment and was subsequently discharged. The Famagusta CID continues to investigate the case, and the suspect remains in custody.
