Iranian authorities execute man over protest-related sabotage charges
Iran has executed an Iranian citizen identified as Erfan Kiani following his conviction for sabotage during nationwide protests. According to the state-affiliated Tasnim news agency, the individual was accused of working for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. The charges against Kiani included acts of vandalism, arson of public and private property, and intimidating residents in the central Iranian city of Isfahan with a machete. The execution by hanging was carried out early in the morning. This action followed the confirmation of the conviction by the Iranian Supreme Court after completion of legal proceedings. While Iranian state media frames the event as justice against foreign-linked saboteurs, international reports categorize the incident within the broader context of the recent state crackdown on civil protests.
