85-year-old victim of home robbery dies in Nicosia

Charalambos Kounnapis, aged 85, has died at the Nicosia General Hospital. He had been receiving medical care since December 20, 2025, following a violent robbery at his home in the Nicosia district. The victim reported that an assailant broke into his residence, attacked him, and stole a sum of money. A 19-year-old suspect is currently in custody awaiting trial. The case is being handled by the Morphou Criminal Investigation Department. The legal proceedings are ongoing at the Assize Court, which is overseeing the murder trial. Police have upgraded the investigation to a homicide case following the victim's death.
