Alphabet to invest up to 40 billion dollars in AI startup Anthropic
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has committed to investing up to $40 billion in the AI startup Anthropic. The deal includes an initial $10 billion cash injection based on a $350 billion valuation, with the remaining $30 billion contingent on performance targets and computing capacity expansion. This move follows recent reports that Amazon has committed to investing up to $25 billion into Anthropic, further highlighting the intense competition for AI development resources. Anthropic, the developer of the Claude model, reported a significant increase in annual run-rate revenue, reaching over $30 billion this month compared to $9 billion at the end of 2025. In February, the startup raised $30 billion in a funding round that reportedly valued the company between $350 billion and $380 billion. Anthropic is actively diversifying its partnerships, having recently secured deals for cloud and AI infrastructure with Google and Broadcom. While the company faces high demand for its models, official confirmation from Google or Anthropic regarding the latest investment figures remains pending.
