Public dispute between Odysseas Michaelides and DISY spokesperson Onoufrios Koullas
A public conflict has escalated between former Auditor General Odysseas Michaelides and DISY spokesperson Onoufrios Koullas. Koullas accused Michaelides of aligning with AKEL and systematically disparaging the DISY leadership, emphasizing that party officials have never been subject to court proceedings. He further cited a Supreme Court ruling involving eight judges that concluded Michaelides had misled the public and used his former office for personal political ambitions. In response, Michaelides launched a personal attack on Koullas, questioning his past tenure as Commissioner for State Aid Control. Michaelides alleged that in 2014, Koullas provided a controversial legal opinion regarding a contract for the Kosi waste management site, which was later linked to a bribery conviction for former Mayor Andreas Louroutziatis. Michaelides also criticized Koullas's resignation in 2014, describing it as a product of incompatibility. Both sides continue to exchange accusations regarding integrity, political motivations, and past professional conduct.
