Formula 1 to return to Istanbul Park in 2027

Formula 1 has officially announced a five-year contract to return to the Istanbul Park circuit in Turkey starting in 2027. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed the deal, stating that the agreement will run through 2031. While some earlier reports suggested a potential return in 2026, the finalized information confirms the 2027 start date. The Istanbul Park track previously hosted nine Grand Prix events, including seven between 2005 and 2011, and two additional races during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic seasons. The agreement aims to leverage Turkey's existing infrastructure and organizational experience to host high-level racing events. As part of the promotional activities for the announcement, Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda participated in a demonstration run through Istanbul. The track is recognized for being one of the most technically demanding circuits in the championship's history.
