Limassol municipality cleans Fysco Lotus Plaza following sanitary complaints

Following media reports and citizen complaints regarding the poor sanitary conditions at the Fysco Lotus Plaza building in Limassol, municipal services launched an ongoing cleaning operation. The municipality stated that the building is not abandoned and continues to be inhabited, while local residents have reported instances of illegal residency. From the start of the operation through today, authorities have removed approximately 26.2 tons of waste, including 10 tons via hook-lift skips, 6 tons via light trucks, and 10.2 tons via heavy trucks. The municipality clarified that while it manages general area cleanliness, the responsibility for internal waste and site maintenance lies with the property owners and management authorities. Officials have documented illegal activities at the site and notified the relevant District Self-Government Organization (EOA). Additionally, the police have been alerted regarding reports of unauthorized residency within the premises. The municipality maintains that its crews visit the area 4 to 5 times weekly to collect sidewalk waste.
