Nicosia Municipality and Cosmos Insurance launch stray cat management project
The Municipality of Nicosia and Cosmos Insurance have launched a collaborative project to manage the city's stray cat population. The initiative involves the installation of 21 cat feeders distributed across all municipal districts. Additionally, two designated feeding areas have been established at the Pedieos River and Olympiadas Park. The program relies on a network of volunteers who oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of these feeding stations. This coordinated effort aims to improve the coexistence between residents and stray cats through a systematic approach to feeding. By moving away from informal, individual feeding, the project seeks to ensure a controlled environment for the animals. The program highlights the importance of public-private cooperation in addressing urban animal welfare. All logistical operations are conducted by volunteers in partnership with the local municipal authorities.
