Police arrest suspect after burglary and injury at Limassol mini market

Limassol police are investigating a burglary at a mini market located on Vasileos Georgiou street in the tourist area. On Thursday morning, two individuals allegedly broke the store's glass storefront to steal cash. Surveillance footage shows one of the suspects fleeing on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice while holding the store's cash register. During the exit, one suspect sustained a leg injury from broken glass. The suspect, a 20-year-old Syrian national, subsequently sought medical treatment at a hospital, claiming the injury was caused by the motorcycle. Medical staff noted the wound was consistent with glass lacerations, leading to his arrest by the Limassol CID. Courts initially ordered a detention period, with conflicting reports stating either four or six days of custody. The suspect remains hospitalized under police guard while authorities continue to search for the second individual.
