Limassol municipality begins redesign process for Anexartisias street
The Municipality of Limassol has commissioned a team of experts, selected via a public tender in March, to oversee the urban redesign of Anexartisias Street. The project aims to improve accessibility, increase pedestrian traffic, and incorporate green spaces and modern mobility alternatives. A series of public consultations and thematic workshops are currently underway to incorporate citizen feedback, utilizing methodologies inspired by international examples like Barcelona. Local shopkeepers recently met with the project team to express their concerns regarding the future of the area. Kristis Dimitriou, representing the store owners, has publicly demanded the construction of a multi-story parking facility behind the old ESEL building. Furthermore, the shopkeepers proposed that if the street is converted to a one-way system, traffic should flow from the Pentadromos junction toward the sea. The design team has already conducted six workshops and continues to engage stakeholders to finalize the development plan.
