Cyprus to host European Transport Workers' Federation executive meeting
Cyprus will host the executive committee meeting of the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) for the first time on April 27-28, 2026. The event is scheduled to take place at the SEK building in Strovolos and will be attended by approximately 50 executive committee members from various European nations. Discussions will focus on labor-related challenges and policy developments affecting workers in the shipping, port, airport, and bus transport sectors. Proceedings are set to begin on Monday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. Official opening remarks will be delivered at 14:00 on the same day by SEK General Secretary Andreas Matsas and Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades. The gathering is held under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency to address regional transport industry strategies. The meeting aims to facilitate international coordination and policy exchange within the broader European trade union movement.
