Anorthosis Famagusta receives final transfer ban from CAS

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has officially upheld a FIFA decision to impose a transfer ban on Anorthosis Famagusta for two consecutive windows: the summer of 2026 and the winter of 2027. The ruling stems from a long-standing legal dispute involving former player Helder Ferreira regarding unpaid contractual obligations. Anorthosis had previously secured an interim injunction that allowed for player registration during the summer of 2025, but the final verdict has now rendered the ban permanent. Additionally, the club is addressing a separate case regarding Majeed Waris, which involves unpaid dues of 155,000 euros and is subject to settlement or payment to be lifted. The club leadership, headed by Kyriakos Prastitis, confirmed that this penalty is final and resulted from repeated violations of FIFA regulations. Despite the ban, the club retains the right to renew current contracts, extend existing loans for players like Sergiou, Sosa, and Karamanolis, and promote youth academy talent. The administration continues to work on financial arrangements to resolve outstanding liabilities.
