Anorthosis Famagusta faces two-window transfer ban confirmed by CAS

This decision prohibits the club from registering new players for two consecutive transfer windows, covering the upcoming summer and January 2027. The sanction was triggered primarily by the case of winger Helder Ferreira, whose outstanding payments were not settled in time despite negotiations. The club’s financial records show recurring deficits, including 3.08 million euros for 2023-24 and 3.91 million euros for 2024. FIFA’s ruling cited Anorthosis as a repeat offender, noting previous disputes involving players Alberto Perea, Miguel Angel Guerrero, and Abdul Majeed Waris, which resulted in significant financial judgments. The current board led by Kyriakos Prastitis, which took office in October 2024, inherited these liabilities, along with 39 pending financial settlements totaling 1.8 million euros. Consequently, the team must now rely on its existing squad for the 2026-27 season.
