Homeless man rescued from garbage truck in Thessaloniki

Early Thursday morning in Thessaloniki, a 46-year-old Romanian man was rescued after being caught in a municipal garbage truck. The man, who is believed to be homeless, was reportedly sleeping inside a waste bin on Nikis Avenue to seek shelter from the rain when it was emptied into the vehicle. Municipality employees operating the truck heard the man calling for help and immediately stopped the machinery and the press. Paramedics from the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAB) arrived at the scene and transported the individual to Papageorgiou Hospital. Reports indicate that he suffered a leg injury but his life is not in danger. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
