Laniteia 2026 and university athletics championships scheduled for April 24

On Friday, April 24, 2026, the Laniteio Athletic Center in Limassol will host the Laniteia 2026 track and field event, which will be held in conjunction with the University Athletics Championships. The competition is registered with the Cyprus Amateur Athletic Association (KOEAS) and adheres to World Athletics regulations, ensuring international recognition of all results. Because the facility has only six lanes, running events with more than six participants will be organized into multiple heats to determine final rankings based on cumulative performance. Field events, specifically discus and hammer throw, will be held at the nearby Tritofteideio Stadium, which is part of the Tsirion athletic complex. This event serves as a pre-season training opportunity for athletes to assess their readiness for upcoming summer competitions. The Laniteia event originated as an internal school track and gymnastics competition dedicated to a benefactor of the institution. The event is open to students currently enrolled in Cypriot universities, regardless of their individual club registrations.
