71st Pancyprian high school track and field championships held in Nicosia
The 71st Pancyprian Athletics Games for high schools and technical schools (TESEK) were held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the GSP National Stadium in Nicosia. The event, dedicated to the memory of Antonis Papadopoulos, was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, Dr. Athena Michaelidou. The championships were organized by the Physical Education Inspectorate Office in collaboration with the Cyprus Amateur Athletics Federation (KOEAS). The Agios Georgios Lyceum of Lakatameia managed the organization and coordination of volunteers. A key achievement of the event was the performance of 17-year-old Marina Hatzikosta from the Laniteio Lyceum in Limassol. Hatzikosta set a new national record in the discus throw for the under-20 and under-18 categories with a distance of 54.84 meters. Her performance surpassed her previous national record of 51.32 meters, set in 2024. Additionally, she currently ranks first in the world for the under-18 age category this year and moved to second place on the all-time Cypriot women’s list, behind Androniki Lada.
