Memorial event held for 1974 war prisoners in Nicosia
On Thursday, the "Day of Remembrance and Honor for the 1974 Prisoners of War" was held at the 1974 Prisoners of War Park in Nicosia. Labor and Social Insurance Minister Marinos Mousiouttas delivered a speech on behalf of President Nikos Christodoulides. The event focused on honoring individuals who were captured during the 1974 conflict and held in various locations, including Adana, Amasya, and Adiyaman in Turkey, as well as prisons in the occupied northern territories. Minister Mousiouttas emphasized that determining the fate of missing persons remains a top priority for the President. The park was described as a living monument representing the resilience of the Cypriot people. The ceremony highlighted the hardships faced by those detained and their contribution to defending the island's territory during that period. The government reiterated its commitment to resolving issues stemming from the 1974 events.
