Investigation launched following the murder of a 25-year-old man in Agios Dimitrios
On Wednesday, April 22, a 25-year-old man was found dead in Asyrmatos Park in Agios Dimitrios. The victim, who was the son of a high-ranking Hellenic Police officer, had sustained a fatal stab wound to the heart. Police were alerted to the scene after 21:30 by a foreign national who discovered the body. Mayor Stelios Mamalakis confirmed that there are no surveillance cameras in the park, as the area is currently under renovation and managed by a contractor. While investigators are exploring all possible motives, including a potential link to previous incidents of violence in the area, no evidence has yet confirmed a connection to football-related disputes. An eyewitness reported that an altercation occurred before the fatal stabbing. Authorities have cordoned off the area to conduct a forensic investigation. The victim's father reportedly arrived at the scene before learning his son was the individual deceased.
