Fatal stabbing in Agios Dimitrios over romantic rivalry
On Wednesday, April 22, a 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Asirmato Park in Agios Dimitrios, Athens. The victim, the son of a Hellenic Police brigadier, died from a wound to the heart inflicted by a 20-centimeter knife. A 20-year-old sailor has confessed to the killing, citing a confrontation over an ex-girlfriend who had begun a new relationship with him. The suspect led police to his apartment building rooftop, where he had hidden the weapon. Prosecutors have charged the 20-year-old with intentional homicide, illegal weapon possession, and use of a weapon; he is scheduled to testify on Tuesday. Additionally, two 20-year-old women and an 18-year-old man are facing charges for harboring a criminal, with their trial rescheduled for Monday. While the defense claims the incident was a momentary lapse during a heated argument, investigators continue to analyze evidence from the scene, including signs of a physical struggle.
