Two passenger trains collide in northern Denmark
A head-on collision between two passenger trains occurred on Thursday morning in a forested area between Hillerod and Kagerup, approximately 40 kilometres north of Copenhagen. Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 06:30 local time and confirmed that all passengers were evacuated, with no individuals trapped in the wreckage. While police and initial media reports suggested between five and 10 injuries, later official reports confirmed a total of 17 injured, with four people in critical condition. Injured passengers were transported to hospitals via both ambulance and helicopter. Images from the broadcaster DR show significant damage to the front sections of both trains. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Police remain at the scene to manage the site as assessments continue.
