Multifunctional park inaugurated in Tsiakkilero refugee settlement, Larnaca
The Tsiakkilero Multifunctional Park in the refugee settlement of Larnaca was officially inaugurated. Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou and Mayor Andreas Vyras attended the opening ceremony. There is a discrepancy in the reports regarding the date of the event, with one source stating Tuesday, April 21, and another mentioning Monday. The project, which is part of the Thaleia 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Programme and co-funded by the European Union, cost 2.5 million euros. The park spans 9,000 square meters and features sports facilities, a playground, walking and cycling paths, a dog park, and a 150-seat open amphitheater. Environmental upgrades include the planting of 150 trees and 800 shrubs. The site was designed to be fully accessible to people with disabilities and the elderly, featuring modern lighting and underground utilities. The land was provided by the Department of Town Planning and Housing.
