Cypriot House of Representatives meets for final session before parliamentary elections
On April 23, 2026, the Cyprus House of Representatives holds its final plenary session under its current composition. The assembly is set to vote for its own dissolution in accordance with Article 67 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus. This move paves the way for parliamentary elections scheduled for May 24, 2026. The official announcement of the elections will be issued by the Minister of the Interior and published in the official gazette on April 24, while candidate nominations are set for May 6. During this final session, the 56 members are addressing pending legislative items, including five remitted bills concerning foreclosures, modifications to the Courts Law, and legislation regarding elementary education supervision. The first session of the newly elected parliament is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, at 16:00.
