Individuals with expiring permits should visit the Civil Registry and Migration Department for interview appointments, ensuring they obtain proof of timely application to avoid unlawful stay, which can jeopardize future status applications. For spousal reunification, residence permit duration for spouses is linked to the primary applicant's status, provided all documentation is correctly filed. Regarding employment, standard work visas are limited to a four-year term, with potential extensions of six to twelve months if requested formally by the employer. Once a work visa expires, foreign workers are generally expected to depart within two weeks, as new contracts are prohibited to limit long-term residency and citizenship eligibility. However, individuals may return to Cyprus as tourists immediately after their work visa expires.
