John Stones to leave Manchester City at the end of the season
John Stones will depart from Manchester City when his contract expires this summer. The 31-year-old English defender reached a mutual agreement with the club to end his ten-year tenure. Since joining from Everton in 2016 for a fee reported between 54.5 and 55.6 million euros, Stones has made 292 appearances for the club. During his time at the Etihad Stadium, he won 16 trophies, including six Premier League titles and one Champions League. In recent seasons, his playing time has been restricted due to recurrent injuries, with only one of the last five seasons seeing him exceed 30 appearances. This campaign, he has started only four Premier League matches under manager Pep Guardiola. An official announcement regarding the departure is expected next week.
