Cyprus government announces fire prevention measures for the upcoming season

Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou announced new fire prevention measures for the upcoming fire season in Cyprus. The government has allocated over €4 million for clearing vegetation and creating firebreak zones in all communities across the country. An additional €1 million is designated for positioning specialized equipment, including tracked vehicles and water tankers, in key locations to ensure rapid response. Communities have updated the 'Polyvios' evacuation plan in cooperation with the Civil Defense. The Fire Service is providing technical guidance to local community leaders regarding firebreak implementation. Minister Ioannou met with the Nicosia District Administration and community leaders to coordinate these operational efforts. The primary objective of these initiatives is to maximize the operational capacity of all involved services. These measures apply to all communities nationwide to ensure comprehensive preparedness.
